The ideal size eggbox for this incubator is 13.25″ X 10 X 4″. But any box that fits will work. WalMart and Target both offer a variety of plastic boxes with a lid that will serve well as an egg box. Search popular reptile forums for tips on making your egg box. But the short version is to add peat moss soaked in water as a base medium in the box. Arrange your eggs in the box so that each egg is slightly touching the others. (When your ball python lays her eggs they will be in a pyramid. Optimum time to arrange the eggs in the egg box is just after they are laid. At this time they are still able to be separated from each other and arranged to get the maximum capacity in the egg box. After a few hours the eggs can’t be separated. If your miss this opportunity to separate the eggs then you can still move the pyramid of eggs to an extra deep eggbox, remove a shelf in the incubator and incubate the eggs. You just give up some capacity for this incubation period.
After talking to a hundreds ball python breeders over the years, this is our answer to what they’ve been asking for. But these aren’t just for Ball Pythons. Any reptile egg will do just fine in here. Set the temperature between 75 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit by directly entering the value you want on the display.
